Langkawi is a very popular spot for those travelling up or down through Malaysia and a popular first point for those travelling from Koh Lipe in Thailand. In this blog post, I’ll share three places where I ate during my stay in Langkawi, Malaysia. Some are worth checking out, some you may want to give a miss. Scroll down to the end and you’ll get a bonus recommendation of a coffee spot which I really enjoyed.

1. Hidden Langkawi – 2461, Jalan Pantai Tengah, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah.
Firstly, I visited Hidden Langkawi. This beach bar is the spot to go if you’re looking for food and an incredible sunset view. Enjoy the sounds of the sea waves with some chill dance tunes as you wait for your food. Be prepared to wait for up to 45 minutes for your food to arrive.
That’s after you queue to get a seat as well! They have a comprehensive menu with western options such as chicken and beef burgers, tapas, tacos, salad, pasta, cheese fries, pizzas, as well as Korean boneless fried chicken.
For drinks, there are plenty of classic cocktails, mocktails, soft drinks along with a fine selection of matcha drinks, juices and milkshakes. Desserts include gelato, tiramisu, Japanese Swiss roll and sweet and savory croffles (described as a marriage between a croissant and a waffle iron). I was sold on the sunset view and beachside experience alone.
2. Machinchang Café – Skycab Langkawi, SkyCab, Oriental Village, Burau, Jalan Telok Burau, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah.
Next, I visited Machinchang Cafe. Located at the bottom of the Langkawi Skycab, I stopped here for lunch when I visited the Langkawi Sky Cab. You can read more about that experience here. The service was relatively quick and I was able to get a club sandwich and orange juice in no time. The staff who served me were nice however the manager told me to ‘pay attention’ when I asked where I could order and pointed at the cashier. I had to ask for a cloth to clean my table as well.
3. Fish Farm Restaurant and Resort – Lot 1986, Jalan Pantai, Jalan Penarak, 07000 Langkawi.
The whole restaurant is perfectly set up for a whole sunset and photography experience. It’s located on a long boardwalk with plenty of fans and music at a low volume. There are backdrops and nests to take photos and lights along the boardwalk after sunset.
I ordered the ginger onion squid and homemade fried rice. The ginger is strong tasting and the friend rice has some bits of chilli so be prepared for a little bit of spice! The toilet area is very well-kept, spacious with plenty of lighting.
Bonus Coffee Spot: Koffeemilia – 231, Jalan Pantai Teenage, Kampung Padang Putih, 07000 Langkawi, Kedah.
This place has a very chilled out vibe and when I was passing there was reggae music playing and locals chatting away. I ordered a flat white and a scone but this place is well known for its wide selection of flavored lattes. The amount of fans help you keep cool. Also, I loved a lot of the 90s summer hits as it took me back to my childhood.

I hope that this post was of some use. A mangrove tour is worth doing, but I don’t know how keep I would be spending several hours on it. If you liked this post, you may like some of my other posts about Malaysia.
