Pemberton is a town in British Columbia which you may come across on your way to Joffre Lakes. It has a small town feel but it left a very positive impression on me during the short time I was there. Based on my experience, the locals do a great job at evoking the nice and hospitable personality Canadians are known for. Their selection of places to eat was notable. In this blog post, I’ll share 3 places you to eat if you visit Pemberton.
1. Town Square Restaurant – 7439 Frontier St, Pemberton, BC V0N 2L1, Canada.
Homely pub-grub and a friendly atmosphere, Town Square is the place to be if you are looking for places to eat in Pemberton. I ended up coming here twice! The food is hearty and filling. I opted for a burger when I visited (as did the majority of customers around me) and was stuffed. It was definitely the busiest place around in the evening. Their menu is available to view here.
That said, I still got a dessert as I have a massive sweet tooth. During the night, sports are on the televisions if you’re looking to watch them. There is plenty of seating (indoor and outdoor). Also, the staff were kind and chatty. I was also appreciative of the local knowledge they offered as well!
2. Blackbird Bakery – 7424 Frontier St, Pemberton, BC V0N 2L0, Canada.
The smell of freshly baked bread hit me in the morning when I arrived. Blackbird Bakery is a small cafe/bakery with a solid selection of sweet and savoury. When I visited, the customers were mainly locals or people working nearby. This is definitely one of the popular places to eat in Pemberton. Several seemed to be passing through to pick up a coffee as they continued on their commute. Their opening hours are 6am-2pm Tuesday to Saturday and 7am-2pm on Sunday. I got a coffee and scone and I easily could have stayed there longer and eaten more! Take a look at their menu here.
3. Grimm’s Deli – 106-7433 Frontier St, Pemberton, BC V0N 2L0, Canada.
I’ll be honest, when I came here one evening it was completely dead. I was the only customer but I was also able to get my food quickly and eat in peace. I was able to get poutine at a reasonable price and it was ready and on the table with minutes. It tasted great and the rich gravy and curds stuck with me (in a good way!) afterwards. The one member on staff on duty was also friendly, too. Another place I recommend on my list of places to eat in Pemberton. Check out their menu here!
Final Thoughts
Finally, Pemberton is a great place to make a stop before visiting Joffre Lakes. While Whistler is the more popular option, Pemberton is a place worth considering en route.
