Transport overall is pretty good in Singapore and easy to get around. I relied a lot on the MRT, but the bus routes are well connected as well. Although the times on Google Maps were accurate, be prepared for traffic. To get to Kampong Glam, take the MRT to Lavender.
Once you get out at Lavender MRT, walk to Arab Street. You’ll see lots of textiles for sale and you can trade in gold if you like. I was also a big of the street murals around the area. Not only will you see plenty here, but all over Singapore as well.
Then, you can walk down along Muscat Street and you’ll see Sultan Mosque. This street is a popular tourist spot and you’ll see many people stopping to take photos. Furthermore, you’ll see waiting staff trying to usher you into their restaurants.
Another place you can visit nearby is Istana Kampong Glam (Malay Heritage Centre). However, when I visited, it was closed for renovations. You might a bit more lucky! The one think I’ll admit that I liked about walking around this area was that it didn’t feel overly crowded. In a bustling high-rise metropolis like Singapore, this was a nice feeling!
Lastly, another place in Kampong Glam you can visit is Gedung Kunig. Known as the ‘Yellow Mansion’, it was a residence for much of its history. Now, it’s a restaurant which you’re welcome to enter and take photos and videos. Of course, there is plenty of buffet-style food on offer as well!
