Explore Little India | Singapore

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post! If you’re looking to explore Little India when you visit Singapore, this post may be of interest to you. I had planned to do a tour with Monster Day Tours but the timings didn’t work out but I must admit that a lot of my tour is based off of their recommendations in their website. They’re not paying me or anything, but I want to be transparent! Keep reading to find out more about how you can explore Little India in Singapore.

Where to start if I want to explore Little India in Singapore?

Start off at Racecourse Road which was a former racecourse created by Singapore Sporting Club and get a meal at Gayatri Restaurant. From here, you can walk along Racecourse Road towards Buffalo Road. There’s also a place called Three’s a Crowd which serves coffee and ice-cream en route. On Buffalo Road, you’ll have a straight line of colour full of fruit, flowers for prayers and saris to admire.

Afterwards, you can head towards Tekka Centre which is a market for fresh produce, fruit and clothes. The Former House of Tan Teng Niah is also not so far away. It was closed when I visited but it’s a very Instagrammable spot for a photo opp of you like. From here, you can take a short walk to the traditional trades mural and onwards to Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple which is a hive of activity during times of worship.

Where should I end my trip when I explore Little India in Singapore?

Little India Arcade is another market worth visiting and could be a great place to pick up some souvenirs with stalls inside and around the market. While I have never been to India, listening to the music, seeing the colours and smelling the spices has only made me want to go there even more.

You’ll finish your trip by walking down Campbell Lane which feels similar to the rest of the area with shop owners going about their day’s work and onwards to Little India Heritage Centre which is a museum of Singapore’s Indian Diaspora.
