Babil Residence and Suites, Istanbul | Turkey

Are you looking to get a hotel room in Istanbul with the best value for money? I was very lucky that this hotel appeared on Booking.com when I was looking for accommodation. It was significantly lower in price in comparison to other hotels nearby. Before visiting, I checked the reviews and they all seemed decent. With that in mind, I booked my stay. In this blog post, I’ll share my experience and what to expect if you decide to stay at Babil Residence and Suites in Istanbul, Turkey.

Location

Babil Residence and Suites is located about a short walk from Taksim Square and there are several metro stations nearby within walking distance. When I arrived after a long haul flight, I was quite keen to leave my belongings at reception before check in (which was at 2pm). However, I spent a solid hour walking up and down Babil Sokak trying to find the number. I checked Google Maps, messaged the reception, you name it!

Long story short, it ends up that Beyzas Hotels and Suites is the building where the hotel is located. Initially I thought that they just hadn’t updated their page on Booking, but they appear to offer rooms at different prices, etc.

The Bedroom

My room was located on a lower floor so there was little/no natural light coming in. Personally, this didn’t bother me too much as I spent most of my days out eating and sightseeing. I felt the room was spacious and comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities and bottles of water which were replenished daily. If you like to watch TV, there was a flat screen television hanging on the wall, too.

The wifi worked very well although I did find it interesting that you couldn’t access Booking.com through their wifi. I slept very well every night, too. The comfortable mattress along with a combination of a high step count meant my sleep was uninterrupted. Perfect after my fears of jet lag!

The Bathroom

Istanbul was pretty cold when I visited but the water was warm and both the bedroom and bathroom were well heated. It was a decent size to shower and get ready. There was no issues with trying to get things to work. All very convenient and hassle free in general. Similar to the tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries were provided and replenished daily. There were plenty of towels available to use as well!

Breakfast

Hotel breakfasts are something I typically have a mental debate with myself about when I visit a new place. I love to visit places for breakfast but also they can be very convenient. The one at Babil Residence and Suites / Beyzas Hotel and Suites had plenty of buffet-style sweet and savoury options so you could totally create your own Turkish breakfast if you wanted. It’s also open until 10am and there is a coffee machine which you can work away on all morning if you wanted. There was a nice mix of guests from all over the world passing through but there was never a moment where anyone was stuck for seats.

Final Thoughts

Despite the initial confusion with the name, location, etc. I would recommend staying here. This is a great place to stay if you’re looking to get value for money. I appreciated the lower cost in comparison to other hotels nearby. Also, you have enough space, privacy, facilities and a great location close to the heart of Istanbul.
