This is a very short and sweet post about car rental in Palau. It’s very straightforward! I was recommended to go to IR Motors who are located in downtown Koror across from Palau Hotel. You can contact them on Facebook here. Alternatively, you can telephone them on +680 488 5600. It was very straightforward. Take a look at their rental policy below.
How to Rent a Car in Koror, Palau
A small car is available for $32USD plus PGST of $3.20. This is $35.20 in total with IR Motors and I booked through Maria. They have plenty of other options available as well.
When You’re Finished
When you’re finished, fill up your gas and return your car to IR Motors. Another option is to leave the car at Blue Bay which is not too far from Shell Villa Apartel along with the key.
What Ended Up Happening to Me!
Although I have a full licence, I haven’t driven in years. I thought that Palau would be a great place to start again as the roads area relatively straightforward. It didn’t even cross my mind that all cars were automatic. I’m used to driving with manual gears. It wasn’t worth the risk and the $3000USD if any damage was caused so I decided against it (a mutual decision by both me and the staff at IR Motors!). However, I will definitely need to look into some lessons to get confident on the road again.
