Thanks for taking the time to read my post! If you’re thinking of visiting Istanbul, I’ll be sharing my experience at Opera Hotel Bosphorus in Istanbul, Turkey. In particular I’ll give some insight into my room and the facilities that were on offer when I stayed there. Keep reading if you’re interested in finding out more!
The Location
Opera Hotel Bosphorus is located in the Beyoglu area of Istanbul. It’s about a 15 minute walk to Taksim Square but it’s also located close to the Bosphorus River if you’d like to walk along your within close proximity. If you’re interested in walking towards Galata Bridge via the river you’re also in a great location. There are plenty other restaurants, bars and shops not too far away.
First Impressions
The reception staff were waiting with a welcome drink which was very kind and they went through everything they had to offer and everything I had access to as a result of my hotel booking which was very informative. Another thing I want to mention is the diffusers they had on the hotel room floors was a really nice touch. Little things like that can make an experience very memorable.
The Bedroom
Rooms are spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. It really made me consider finding out where they got the mattress from so I could get the same one for myself! There’s a flatscreen TV and tea/coffee making facilities which were restocked daily. Although I would have loved a view of the Bosphorus, I was very appreciative of the natural light which came in thanks to the low-rise building across the road. I must also add that I paid for a deluxe city view room so I was fully aware of this! In addition, it was pretty cold when I visited but the heating served its purpose and kept the room warm. The paintings and decor added to the feeling of being in an upmarket hotel.
The Bathroom
The most memorable thing for me was that the shower was huge! There were no issues with getting the shower to work and there was a wide range of water temperatures to choose for your shower as opposed to the extremely hot or extremely cold water which many tourists can experience in their accommodation on trips. It also had plenty of light and a hairdryer to dry your hair quickly after taking a shower. The hotel supplied plenty of high quality towels and toiletries and cleaned the bathroom daily, re-stocking any used items during my stay.
Other Facilities on Offer
Opera Hotel Bosphorus has an array of additional facilities on offer. These include a bar, restaurant, spa, gym and swimming pool. Also, they even have Starbucks Coffee on sale across from their reception! The bar is very well stocked decorated in the style of an exclusive city bar. The restaurant has a rooftop location with a balcony to take in the great views of the Bosphorus but I decided against eating at the hotel to discover all of the amazing food Istanbul had on offer.
While their outdoor pool looks great in the photos, it wasn’t the right weather when I arrived so unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to experience the pool on this occasion. If you want to use the spa, you need to make a reservation so that you can use the Turkish baths. They also have massages available at the hotel. While I didn’t get a massage, the Turkish bath was very private and a great experience. You can use it yourself or pay for supplemental services. The gym had some free weights, barbells, treadmills and bikes to use. Some were in need of repair, but it was still possible to get a workout done.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a hotel with a great hotel and facilities, Opera Hotel Bosphorus in Istanbul is a definite contender. Staff were hospitable, views were top notch and the overall experience as well above par.
