Time for a haircut? Looking to get a fade? Keep reading to find out more about my experience at Partyhead in Shanghai.
I visited this barber on a quiet evening so it was relatively easy to get a booking via their mini-program on WeChat. Their QR code (and of my barber) is at the end of this post to scan in order to to get their mini-program. I went to their 181-183 Madang Road location inside Xintiandi Style shopping mall. It can feel like a bit of a maze trying to navigate your way around to try and find it. They also have a location at 42 Maoming Nan Lu (not too far from IAPM Mall) as well.

How to Make a Booking:
Before arrival, I was able to make a booking via Partyhead’s mini-program and choose from their selection of staff, based on their availability. A friend of mine regularly visits Partyhead and recommended Ada to me as his English is very good. However, given his popularity and availability, I started to choose James. He is a newer member of staff and although he speaks very little English, it was easy to communicate with him (if you’re stuck, download the SayHi app!).

The Experience:
Upon arriving, you can sit in the waiting area outside in a deckchair and get a drink. I took water this time, but coffee and other drinks are also available if you prefer. After communicating what I was looking for (a fade), James got to work. He washed my hair and checked the length I wanted before snipping and shaving off my hair to my desired length.

The Barber and the Cost:
He is really professional and takes his time, making sure that he does the best job possible. Allow yourself about an hour’s time from start to finish. A men’s haircut costs 288 RMB but they also offer the following:
- Beard trim 188 RMB
- Brows 50RMB
- Wet shave 188RM
- Shampoo and style 88RMB
- Hair tattoo 88RMB
- Kids cut 188RMB.
James has given me is WeChat which you can scan if you want to book through him directly. Just scan the code below!
